In October of 2019, many of you packed the Grove City Area High School Auditorium to express your opposition to the proposed landfill near Grove City Premium Outlets and the Grove City Airport.

Although many sound reasons were given to deny a landfill that would be allowed to bring in waste from toxic construction, carcinogenic items, alpha-ray radiation-emitting fracking material and municipal waste to an area of thriving businesses employing hundreds of people, the Department of Environmental Protection has chosen to ignore them and approve the permit.

The Citizens’ Environmental Association of the Slippery Rock Area, or CEASRA (see our Facebook page: No Trash Mountain or our website: www.ceasrapa.com), has worked for more than 15 years to oppose this landfill. When we have taken appeals through the legal process, we have never lost.

But we need financial resources to move this battle forward. We need to make our appeal to the Environmental Hearing Board within 30 days of notice of the landfill permit approval, and ask for your help now.

To that end, a generous couple has agreed to double donations to CEASRA in the month of January, up to $100 per donation, to help us raise funds for legal help, expert witnesses, along with transcript costs and filing fees.

Please send your donations made out to CEASRA and mailed to Chris Brown, 40 Schmidt Road, Grove City, PA 16127. Thank you!

Jim Highland, Grove City
