SRU women fall to W.Va. State

INSTITUTE, W.Va. — Jamiyah Johnson scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, but the Slippery Rock University women's basketball team dropped an 84-71 decision Sunday at West Virginia State.

Daeja Quick and Deleah Gibson added 12 points each for The Rock (1-1). Charity Shears led West Virginia State with 23 points.

SRU opens its home season at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday against Ursuline.
