Eleanor Bernadette (Vrabel) Balta, 87, of Dravosburg passed away under the care of Paramount Senior Living at Cranberry on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2020.
She was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Homestead, and was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Banyas) Vrabel.
She was the beloved wife of the late George A. Balta Jr., whom she married on Oct. 11, 1958.
She is survived by her adoring children, Richard (Lori) Balta of Manassas, Va., Blaze (Debbie) Balta of Elizabeth, Pa., and Cheryl (Neil) Pettes of Cranberry Township; and seven treasured grandchildren, Trevor, Tristan, Trent, Broc, Allison, Dylan and Ryan.
She was one of seven children and was the sister of the late Francis (Dorothy survives) Vrabel and Nancy (the late Raymond) Vincevich, and surviving siblings, Joseph (the late Helen) Vrabel, Patricia (the late Andrew) Swabsky, Diane Vrabel and Darlene (John) Turner.
She is also survived by 12 nieces and five nephews.
Eleanor graduated from Munhall High School in 1950, and went on to work for Bell Telephone as an operator/supervisor for many years. After becoming a mom, she worked as a part-time associate for 10 years at Hills Department Store.
She was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother to her three children and seven grandchildren, and was adored by everyone who met her.
For many years, she was active in the Ladies Guild at Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Duquesne, and enjoyed participating in their bowling leagues with her husband, George.
She loved to bake, sew, crochet, read romance and mystery novels, and spend time with her family, especially at their cottage at Yough Lake.
She will be missed dearly.
BALTA — Family and friends of Eleanor Bernadette (Vrabel) Balta, who died Friday, Dec. 25, 2020, will be received from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, 3501 Main St., Munhall.
A funeral service will follow at noon Wednesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne.
Interment will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, West Mifflin.
