A Seneca Valley Senior High School student has tested positive for COVID-19.

The district sent out a letter Tuesday informing parents and staff of a positive case at the district's high school, marking the first positive test since the district returned to full-time in-person education on Oct. 5.

While the student tested positive and is displaying symptoms, according to the letter, the student did not attend school or even ride the bus while displaying symptoms or while being suspected of COVID-19 infection. Therefore, the letter states, the district determined the positive student did not expose others at school.

The district said it could not inform parents of any more information due to student and health confidentiality laws.

This is the second COVID-19 case among Seneca Valley students. In mid-September, a student at Rowan Elementary School tested positive, but the district said that student did not ride the bus or report to homeroom the week the student tested positive.
