CRANBERRY TWP — Those in need stand to get a little help from the Cranberry Township 55+ Club during an upcoming food drive.
Running from Tuesday through March 10, the drive will benefit Gleaners Food Bank. While it historically has been a members-only initiative, organizers hope that opening it up to the public will generate more donations.
“While we are proud of what we’ve been able to do for the past two years, we want the public to join us, so that we can make a much larger donation,” said Bill Shaner, president of the 55+ Club.
Residents are asked to drop off nonperishable food items, paper products and hygiene products at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center, 2525 Rochester Road. The items can be placed inside Bin No. 1 across from the administration/customer service entrance.
The Cranberry Township 55+ Club has approximately 130 members and is open to any township resident. The food drive is one of two major yearly initiatives of the club.
