JACKSON TWP — A required hearing on the construction of a new elementary school in the Seneca Valley School District is scheduled for next month.
During a meeting Monday of the Seneca Valley School Board, members approved an Act 34 Resolution to set the hearing for Nov. 4.
An Act 34 hearing is required for all new construction or substantial additions to school district buildings resulting in new construction costs.
The hearing will address a new school being planned off Ehrman Road at the border of Cranberry and Jackson townships. It will replace Evans City elementary and middle schools, housing kindergarten through sixth grade.
According to the resolution, the maximum building construction cost is $60,571,183, with a maximum total project cost of $78,737,089.
As part of the process, the full project description booklet outlining the project will be made available and submitted to the state's Department of Education. That booklet will be made part of the minutes for Monday's meeting.
The public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 4 in the Intermediate High School auditorium.
Earlier this summer, officials said final construction documents could be submitted by January, with bidding taking place in February.
