MIDDLESEX TWP — A township man is accused of choking his girlfriend during a domestic dispute late last month.

Middlesex Township police arrested Christian M. DeGutis, 47, following the Aug. 31 incident at the couple's home on the 300 block of Leslie Road.

District Judge Bill O'Donnell arraigned DeGutis on a felony charge of strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of simple assault. He is free on $10,000 unsecured bail with the condition he have no contact with the woman.

Police said the victim reported the assault early Sept. 1 after driving to her father's home in Allison Park, Allegheny County. She told police she went there to get away from the DeGutis.

Charging documents report the woman told investigators DeGutis shoved her down and pushed her head on the floor.

DeGutis also allegedly “grabbed her by the throat and squeezed,” according to documents.

Police described the woman's injuries as small cuts on her nose and lower back and small marks on her throat.

DeGutis was later arrested at his house.
