SV students picked to receive memorial scholarship

JACKSON TWP — Two Seneca Valley High School students were the recipients of the Logan Renshaw Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship is given to one football player and one cheerleader in the district.

It is named after former Seneca Valley student Logan Renshaw, who was killed in a car crash two years ago. Originally from Cranberry Township, she spent many years cheering with the Seneca Valley Junior Football & Cheer Association before moving to Florida with her family.

The 2019 winners of the scholarship are 2019 graduates Grace Raykovics and Jake Stebbins. Each received a $500 scholarship.

Student picture days slated at Mars

ADAMS TWP — Mars Area schools will hold Student Picture Days on the following dates:

n Thursday — Mars Area Middle School and Mars Area Centennial School

n Monday — Mars Area Elementary School

n Sept. 17: Mars Area Primary Center

n Oct. 4 — Mars Area High School

Mars SpiritWear sales continue

ADAMS TWP — Mars Area Elementary PTO is holding its annual Mars SpiritWear sales through Sept. 22.

SpiritWear can be ordered online at Items can be shipped directly to home or can be picked up the week of Oct. 21. Times and locations for pickup haven't been determined.

Product samples are available in the lobby at Mars Area Elementary School. Paper order forms for SpiritWear can also be obtained in each elementary school's office.

Homecoming dance tickets on sale now

ADAMS TWP — Tickets for the Mars Area High School 2019 Homecoming Dance are on sale through Sept. 27 at the high school Student Council booth.

The dance is 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 28 at Mars Area Centennial School. Tickets are $30 per student through Sept. 20 and $35 after that. Dance attendants must be 14 to 20 years old and in ninth grade or above. A ticket order form is available at

The homecoming celebration begins with Powder Puff Football at 9 a.m. Sept. 22 at the Mars Athletics Complex. The homecoming parade is 5 p.m. Sept. 27 in Downtown Mars. The homecoming football game against Shaler Area follows at 7 p.m. in the athletic complex.
