Swim club tryouts coming next week

JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley Swim Club will host new member tryout evaluations from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Sign up for a 15-minute time slot at www.swimsvsc.org.

Based on the coaches' recommendation after the evaluation, each swimmer will be placed into the appropriate swim group.

Golf event to benefit kids

HARMONY — Park United Presbyterian Church will hold its sixth annual Memorial Golf Classic at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 7 at Strawberry Ridge G.C.

All money raised will be used to help fund a school bus for children to attend school at the New Life Mission Church in India.

Registration fee is $85 and includes golf, cart, hot dog and drink at the turn, team and individual contests, a steak burger/sausage picnic buffet.

Evans City driver wins at Meadows

Evans City resident Aaron Johnston drove two horses — which he also trains — to wins Wednesday at The Meadows.

Johnston drove 2-year-old trotter Nezblanc — making only his second career start — to victory. He also won with Lima Moonshine, a trotter owned by Jennifer Johnston of Evans City and Brian Taylor of Prospect.
