Mars School Board

ADAMS TWP — Mars Area School Board took official action at the Aug. 6 meeting.

Personnel decisions are approved pending proper documentation. Contracts are approved pending the review of legal counsel.

For the 2019-20 school year, the board approved:

Mars Area Elementary PTO, Girls Volleyball Boosters, Girls Basketball Boosters, Quarterback Club, Roundball Club and Cheer Boosters as school-affiliated organizations

Gretchen Baysek, Susan Brydon and Simon Neubert for professional employee contracts based on their completion of tenure requirements

Robert Betton for a part-time custodial position

Aubrey Sandidge and Ronald Noonan for full-time custodial positions

Accepted the resignations of Natalee Bufalini, Emily Mazzant, Megan McCrory, Luigi Lista-Brinza, Robert Lagoon and Alayna Pirrung

Accepted the resignation of Joseph Haefner as seventh- and eighth-grade girls soccer head coach

Supplemental band adviser contracts for Kara Lamantia (assistant director) and Zachery Morgan (percussion ensemble) with stipends of $5,081 and $2,849, respectively

Supplemental athletic contracts for Joseph Haefner (varsity girls soccer assistant coach) and Joseph Cioc (head cross county coach) with stipends of $3,913 and $4,546, respectively

Melissa Carchedi and JoEllyn Hixson as long-term substitutes, to be paid as day-to-day substitutes until reaching the long-term substitute rate (45 consecutive days)

Kyle Hamilton as a special-education teacher at a Step 1 master's salary

Jill Schiller as a part-time special education teacher at an 80 percent Step 1 master's salary

Amy Gloeckner, Rebecca Crum-Reinsel, Paul Lydon, Michelle Good and Mary Kay Gaura as paraprofessionals

Rescinding the hiring of Theodore Hunt as a full-time police officer

Rescinding the hiring of Peter Vogel as a substitute police officer, with an approximate $200 reimbursement for accrued costs

Connie Gordon for family medical leave from July 5 through Aug. 16

Maegan Fabanich, Lisa Boettcher, Katherine Kokal, Joyce Doss, Amanda Morello, Christine Petrini, Debra Kravets, Susan

McElheny, Melissa Steiner, Adrianne Vandevort, Tina Yankello and Ashley Golias as mentor teachers to new hires

Ryan Morgan as the district's technology director with an annual salary of $97,000

The bid recommendations of CDW-G for the purchase of 39 Promethean ActivPanels, Chromeboxes, digital signage players, stands and licenses totaling $156,847 for the middle school

The Mars Area Education Support Professionals Association Arbitration appeal

The day student education agreement with Glade Run Lutheran Services

The University School Enrollment Contract

An agreement with The Watson Institute Social Center for Academic Achievement

An outreach services contract with the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children

Opening a checking account with Mars National Bank for the 2018 Mars Area Middle School construction fund.
