ZELIENOPLE — Several events are planned at the Zelienople Public Library.

n The library will host its sixth annual Star Wars Day from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event will include a visit from costumed characters from the 501st Legion, games, crafts, science activities and a Chewbacca call contest. This event is best for children 3 and up and their families. Costumes are encouraged.

n This year’s annual summer reading program begins June 12 with a program by Mad Science of Pittsburgh.

The theme is “A Universe of Stories,” celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

The library will have space and STEM activities for all ages.

n A new program called “Make a Difference” will start in early July, and is geared for third to sixth graders.

The focus of this program is to have children work together to attempt to solve local community environment and sustainability issues.

n The wine walk in Harmony fundraiser will begin at 5 p.m. June 8. In addition to wineries and distilleries, there will be craft vendors and food trucks and music.

n Zelienople Library Presents! — an art and culture speaker series — continues this summer with local historian Tom Nesbitt speaking on “Zelienople’s First Settlers” at 7 p.m. Aug. 1.

Tickets, sold at the library, are $8 for adults and $3 for children younger than 14.
