ADAMS TWP — Supervisors signed an agreement Monday to provide the Mars School District with police officers.
The deal between the district and the township would provide the school with two full-time officers from the township Police Department to be permanently stationed in district schools for a cost of $150,000 per school year. The officers will be trained and hired by the department.
These will be supplemented by three retired law enforcement officers, who will be hired by the district to provide added security.
The school board signed the agreement at special meeting May 2.
The agreement begins July 1 and continues for one year. The school board and supervisors again will meet in January to discuss what to do at the end of that period.
The township police department is currently working to hire and train the officers.
