Zelie swim club holding meeting

ZELIENOPLE — The Zelienople Area Swim Club will hold an informational meeting for parents of children interested in summer swimming.

The event will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., May 2 at the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople.

Children are welcome.

SV plans youth track meet

JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley track and field team will host the 35th annual All-District K-6 Track and Field Community Event May 10 at NexTier Stadium.

Registration is from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. Field events begin promptly at 6 p.m., with track events beginning after the field events.

The event is free to all district residents. Each participant is asked to consider bringing a non-perishable food item as a donation to the local food banks.

Scherer scores 4 in lacrosse victory

GREENVILLE — Seneca Valley graduate Paige Scherer scored four goals and added an assist in Thiel College’s 19-18 women’s lacrosse victory over Chatham last week.

Scherer also contributed 10 draw controls for the Tomcats (8-6).

Mars grad earns PAC softball honor

Mars graduate Marina Manuppelli, a sophomore on the Geneva College softball team, has been named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week.

She hit .692 (9-for-13) in a pair of doubleheader sweeps, tallying 11 RBI, three doubles and a home run.

Manuppelli hit a three-run walk-off homer in a 5-4 win over Carnegie Mellon. She went 5-for-6 with seven RBI in a twinbill sweep of Washington & Jefferson.
