ADAMS TWP - Mars Area High School Student Council raised $1,348 to benefit veterans living at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars through a “Cookies for a Cause” fundraiser.

Student Council member Jenna Sutton, junior, organized the fundraiser, which took place at the Mars Farmers Market from June to August and at Mars Applefest on Oct. 6. Student Council members volunteered as guest bakers and salespersons and the bakers covered the cost of all ingredients.

In addition, Sutton offered a seasonal European-style bread bakery, where in previous years she would sell her cookies. Instead, this year, she decided to sell the cookies to benefit the cause and donated any unsold cookies to the residents of St. John Specialty Care Center.
