1 person hurt in multi-vehicle crash in Cranberry Twp.

A multi-vehicle accident Nov. 27 on Route 228 in Cranberry Township slowed traffic during the morning commute. Police, fire and EMS personnel were on the scene for about an hour.

CRANBERRY TWP — One person was transported to a local hospital Nov. 27 following a multi-vehicle accident on Route 228.

The accident was reported at 7:43 a.m. Nov. 27 in the eastbound lanes of Route 228 on the overpass above Interstate 79.

According to Cranberry Police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino, four vehicles were involved.

Traffic was backed up onto Route 19, slowing the morning commute. Several Cranberry police, fire and EMS vehicles were on scene to handle the accident. One vehicle appeared to lose a wheel, and another appeared to come to rest on the median.

Mascellino said one person was transported to Allegheny General Hospital for injuries.

The scene was cleared within an hour. Mascellino said the accident remains under investigation.
