CRANBERRY TWP — For those who are new to gardening or want to brush up on their skills, the Penn State Master Gardeners of Butler County are teaching a 4-week series of gardening classes Tuesdays in May at the municipal center, 2525 Rochester Road.
All classes run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and are for adults ages 18 and up. Each participant who preregisters will take home a free gardening gift.
May 8 — Feed the Bees: caring for bees all year round: Lisa Bernardo will explore options to nurture garden pollinators throughout the three growing seasons.
May 15 — Apple Tree Pest Control: Learn more about apple tree growing and home orchards, including managing pests and diseases.
May 22 — Using Shrubs in Landscape: Mary Kruger will help people explore options for privacy foundation planting or something to support the birds and bees.
May 29 — Strawbale Gardening: Angela Fishburn teaches the benefits of strawbale gardening and how to grow tomatoes, peppers, squash, beets, carrots, herbs, flowers and more.
