Zelie swim club slates meeting

ZELIENOPLE — The Zelienople Swim Club will hold an informative meeting for parents from 6-7 p.m. April 30 at the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople. Children are also welcome.

The Zelienople Swim Club has been welcomed to swim at EDCO Park & Pool in Evans City while its pool is under renovation during the 2018 season.

Bowling meeting slated April 25

BUTLER TWP — The Butler Area USBC will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. April 25 at Family Bowlaway’s upper meeting room.

Topics of discussion will include voting of bylaw changes, election of directors and a recap of the 2017-18 season. All certified members of the Butler Area USBC Bowling Association are encouraged to attend.

WPIAL announces Hall of Fame class

GREENTREE — The 12th annual WPIAL Hall of Fame banquet will take place June 2 at the Greentree Doubletree Hotel. This year’s induction class was announced Thursday.

Athletes going in are football players Curtis Bray of Gateway and Hampton, Justin King of Gateway, A.Q. Shipley of Moon and Terry Smith of Gateway, track’s Breehana Jacobs of Laurel Highlands, wrestler Coleman Scott of Waynesburg, basketball players Lee Shaffer of Baldwin and Tanisha Wright of West Mifflin.

Ambridge and Springdale basketball coach Chuck DeVenzio and Clairton football coach Tom Nola will be inducted, as will the 1989 Sto-Rox football team, former WPIAL president Patrick Ratesic as a contributor.

Phil Bridenbaugh, football coach at New Castle for 34 years and Geneva College for five, will receive the Heritage Award.
