Seman stands out in Pitt defeat

STATE COLLEGE — Seneca Valley graduate Angela Seman, a junior on the University of Pittsburgh women’s volleyball team, had 16 digs in the Panthers’ 3-1 NCAA Tournament loss to No. 1 Penn State over the weekend.

Pitt (26-7) lost the match 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19. Penn State improved to 31-1 on the year.

Castello nets 16 for Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG — Mars graduate John Castello, a sophomore forward on the Shippensburg University basketball team, scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Red Raiders’ 65-48 win over Gannon Saturday.

Castello drained a career-high four 3-pointers in the victory.

SV hosting girls hoop clinics

The Seneca Valley girls basketball program is offering its Little Dribblers, In-House and Travel program to prospective players.

The Little Dribblers program introduces fundamentals of basketball to girls in kindergarten through second grade. Fee is $50 and the program takes place on Saturday afternoons in January at Haine Middle School.

Registration deadline is Dec. 22.
