A Cranberry Township man was arrested after he allegedly led police on a 10-mile pursuit on Interstate 79 in northern Butler County.

Libin Zhou, 30, was arraigned on a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police and three traffic violations. He was released on $8,000 unsecured bail.

Police said they initially spotted Zhou’s car cross the center dash line and single yellow line on I-79 in Muddy Creek Township. He also was speeding, according to court documents.

When police tried to stop the defendant near the Prospect/Portersville exit, he slowed down but did not stop. Police continued to pursue the vehicle and additional police cars were called out, documents said. Zhou’s car eventually got off the highway at the Slippery Rock exit. He pulled over at the end of the off-ramp.

“While speaking to Zhou,” according to a police affidavit,” he related that he didn’t know that he was supposed to stop his vehicle.”
