CRANBERRY TWP — Field & Stream, the first U.S. specialty store built by Dick's Sporting Goods, will open here Aug. 16 with a grand opening weekend celebration that includes country music newcomer Thomas Rhett.

“We are proud to open our initial Field & Stream store in Cranberry Township,” said Jack Barnes, general merchandise manager, in a news release.

Named for the iconic brand that has been synonymous with the outdoors for more than 140 years, the Field & Stream store will have outdoor equipment, accessories and services in hunting, fishing, archery and camping.

The grand opening will begin with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. Just before that, Rhett will perform about 9:30 a.m. outside the store.

Rhett's debut album is due out later this year and will include his Top 15 hit songs, “Something To Do With My Hands” and “Beer with Jesus.”

During the weekend, there will be activities, giveaways and celebrity appearances.

Customers also will be able to learn tips and techniques from professional anglers at the 4,000-gallon bass tank, and practice at the Field & Stream archery trailer.

Store hours for opening weekend will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The new Field & Stream store is at 1000 Cranberry Square Drive in the Cranberry Square shopping plaza in the former Dick's Sporting Goods store, which relocated into a larger building along Route 228.
