CABOT — Dino Capestrani has been in a leadership position for much of his career and does not seem to be slowing down.
In 1981, Capestrani started Advertising Concepts along with his wife, Lynn. The company provides advertising and marketing for businesses.
In 2006, Capestrani and his wife converted their company into Proforma Advertising Concepts, making it a full-service marketing company. It is now run by his wife.
Since 2003, he has had plenty to do as the director of marketing for Concordia Home and Community Services based out of Cabot.
Concordia Visiting Nurses was started in 1997 and is a nonprofit home health agency based out of Cabot.
“I help to promote Concordia's Home and Community Services for Concordia Visiting Nurses, Good Samaritan Hospice and Concordia Medical equipment with promotional messages, public relations and marketing tools through graphic design, video production and public speaking,” Capestrani said.
The Concordia Visiting Nurses assist people in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence, Mercer and Westmoreland counties.
“Indirectly, my role at Concordia is also to build relationships with congregations of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, so my involvement in the Easter District LCMS and now the Ohio District LCMS, as well as the national LCMS Synod are still used or engaged,” Capestrani said.
“Recently, my role has expanded to assist Concordia with its newest acquisition in Ohio. With that new role, my primary purpose is to assimilate Concordia into a new community and to build that facility's business,” Capestrani added.
“With the acquisition of Concordia at Sumner, in Copley, Ohio, my main role in Akron is to build relationships with those congregations in Cleveland and Akron as well as to help build census (fill beds) in the health center.”
Concordia employs about 400 registered nurses, medical social workers, physical, speech and occupational therapists, among other health care professionals.
“Every day in my role as marketing director, leadership ability is fundamental since my role is to package a message and influence stakeholders to embrace that message,” Capestrani said.
“That is whether to consider Concordia for their family care giving or for a local referral source to consider giving Concordia business or to move a new community (like that in Akron) to welcome Concordia and to use our services.”
In the past, Capestrani, 55, has been affiliated with multiple organizations such as the public relations and membership committees of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, the International Management Council, the Butler Chapter and Toastmasters International.
He also was on the board of directors for the Eastern District Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, LCMS Synodical Convention.
“Right now I only serve as a board member of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce,” Capestrani said.
He sharpened his skills as a leader in 2011, when he attended Leadership Butler County.
“I really thought that I knew Butler, but when I went through the program, I realized how much I didn't know,” he said.
Capestrani said the program helped him have a better insight into Butler County and a better awareness that has helped him at Concordia.
“In my communications internally with senior management, my learned leadership skills have been able to influence the management team to embrace new concepts, markets and strategies to expand Concordia's mission,” Capestrani said.
In his free time, Capestrani enjoys martial arts, and is a black belt instructor. He also plays percussion for a variety of bands and for services in his congregation.
Definition : “Communication, honest communication. It is a tremendous balance between fairness and firmness, and you have to be a great listener.”
“My father is 85 years old and an immigrant from Italy. He really taught me a lot about leadership. To this day, I still ask him for advice.”
