A former employee at a Cranberry Township heavy equipment and parts dealer was ordered to pay about $83,400 in restitution.

Steven Anderson, 26, of Pittsburgh pleaded guilty to felony theft and was sentenced Thursday to spend five years in Butler County’s Intermediate Punishment Program.
County Judge William Shaffer ordered Anderson to spend the first 90 days of the program in the county prison. After his release, he will spend another 270 days on house arrest with electronic monitoring. Then he will be on probation.
Court records say Anderson between September 2008 and October 2009, took property, including parts, belonging to his then employer, Cleveland Brothers Equipment on Smith Drive. Court records say some of the items were sold online from Anderson’s home, which was in Harrisville at the time.
Court records indicate Anderson acknowledged to Cranberry police in 2010 that he committed the thefts and returned some items that he had taken but had not yet sold.
Before sentencing, he paid $10,000 of the restitution he owes.
Anderson was given the opportunity to make a statement in court, but he declined.
