County might alter employee raise rule

The Butler County commissioners may revise a 25-year-old county resolution setting a minimum pay hike each year for elected officials.
Under the resolution, the commissioners and county row officers, excluding the district attorney and judges, receive a minimum 4 percent raise each year.
The salaries of the judges and district attorney are set by the state.
Commissioner Dale Pinkerton, board chairman, said recently that the current economic conditions make a revision to the policy necessary.
He said the commissioners will meet publicly with the affected row officers to discuss a possible new raise percentage.
No dates have been set to do that.
In addition to the commissioners, the policy covers the controller, treasurer, prothonotary, clerk of courts, register of wills, sheriff and recorder of deeds.
