AUTUMN EVENT
26th fall festival set in Zelie, Harmony

ZELIENOPLE — The Zelienople-Harmony Country Fall Festival will return for its 26th year on the weekend of Oct. 9 and 10.
It is sponsored by the Zelienople-Harmony Business Association.
The event was approved recently by the borough council, which also contributed $250 to the event and approved a banner at the borough limits to announce the festival.
The festivities will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 9 and from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 10.
Food, games, raffles, entertainment and various vendors will be featured in the Zelienople downtown area, the Zelienople Municipal Airport and on Mercer Street in Harmony.
"A fantastic program is planned for this year," festival chairwoman Ethel Mae Hall told borough council.
Horse-drawn wagon rides will be available to take festivalgoers on a short trip around town.
Outdoor music and entertainment will be scheduled at the gazebo and various sites on Main Street. Among the acts scheduled are: The Country Tradition, Amos & Cookie Mazzant, Pat Blackburn, The Banjo All-Stars, The Butler Notables, Mr. Bill's Dulcimer, Trapper John, Southernaires, Tacky the Clown, Thrift Shop Band, Dan Hulse Banjo Minstrel and Jon Fisher.
For the second year, the Zelienople Municipal Airport and the Condor Aero Club will offer airplane rides with riders footing the cost for the gasoline for the flight, she said. The event was very popular last year.
"It's a way to keep them (the airport) tied into the community. People don't realize what an asset we have here," Hall said.
The chili cook-off returns in the South Main Street parking lot at the corner of Main and Spring streets.
Some favorite events will return, including sidewalk sales, crafters, an antiques and collectible fair, contests and games, historic encampments and a farmers market. Food vendors will be set up at the Four Corners Park and south on Main Street to Beaver Street.
Zelienople's Passavant House and Buhl House and the Harmony Museum will offer historic tours.
The Strand Theater's Northern Nightmares Halloween activities also will be held.
Event details will be available at www.zelienopleharmonyfallfestival.com or by calling 724-452-5571.
