Ceramic art display opens at Bottlebrush

HARMONY — The Bottlebrush Gallery & Shop will present a "3rd Friday Event" for "Turning Corners by Michael Flaherty" from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

"Turning Corners" is a display of the functionality of art in our lives by ceramic artist Michael Flaherty. The exhibit will continue through Sept. 12.
Flaherty first began to study pottery in high school in the suburbs of Pittsburgh.
He continued to study ceramics at Allegheny Junior College and then transferred to Slippery Rock University, where he majored in fine art and ceramics.
He graduated summa cum laude from SRU in 1998. He then continued his education at Carlow University, where he earned his master's degree in education.

"Harmony" by Michael Flaherty is one of the many ceramic pieces in "Turning Corners" that will be showcased Friday at the "3rd Friday" event at the Bottlebrush Gallery in Harmony.

Flaherty makes his home and runs his studio in Richland Township, Allegheny County, with his wife and three children and teaches art in the Charleroi School District in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Bottlebrush hosts an evening event every third Friday of each month to introduce different artists and art forms to the community.
The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. It is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
