Hope church members help quake victims
CRANBERRY TWP — Members of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church recently sent 132 hygiene kits in 27 buckets to help victims of the Haiti earthquake. The donation made its way to residents in need via the Pittsburgh organization Brother's Brother Foundation. Kathy Seeman, a New Sewickley Township resident, organized the effort at Hope Lutheran through its evangelism committee, which she chairs. She proposed the idea to Sunday school superintendent Donna Pfeiffer of Cranberry Township, who saw the project as a way to get the children involved in helping others. The children and their families filled bags with soap, washcloths, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs and brushes. Seeman checked each bag and then collected more individual donations to total 132 kits. She delivered the donation to Brother's Brother the week of Feb. 15.
