Teacher spotlight
Every week, The Cranberry Eagle will spotlight a local educator, providing a glimpse into what makes them tick.
QUESTION: Why did you become a teacher? ANSWER: I always thought I wanted to be a teacher. I taught my first lesson (fire safety) to preschoolers when I was in eighth grade. After teaching my first group of swimming lessons, I knew for sure that teaching was for me. I loved seeing them overcome their fears and learn to swim. QUESTION: What is one sentence that sums up what you believe is the key to teaching? ANSWER: For myself, I have found that having enthusiasm for the subject matter certainly helps. We do a lot of really bad singing in my Language Arts class. "Preposition Expedition" is a class favorite. QUESTION: When you're not teaching, you most likely can be found doing what? ANSWER: Traveling to Myrtle Beach or working at Shaler Pool.
QUESTION: What is one thing about you that likely would surprise your students? ANSWER: My house is an organizational disaster.
