Jackson supervisors plan to make road priority list
JACKSON TWP — The supervisors plan to do an overall assessment of township roads that they hope will result in priority maintenance list. Chairman Roy Huffman said Monday night the township should do this to document the condition of the road surface, base and drainage to get an overall assessment of the roads and their needed improvements. He believes that effort can be achieved with the cooperation of the supervisors, and the road and police departments. Supervisor Ron Lutz said the township should look at establishing at least a three-year road maintenance plan that would be updated once projects are completed. Supervisor Gary Goehring said that many of the road bases are deficient and were paved over clay or gravel bases. He also said drainage off roads is deficient. The supervisors acknowledged that with the cost of reconstructing 1 mile of road more than $1 million, it is unlikely major road reconstruction projects would occur.
